Welders, explain them to me please...

If you're only doing the odd bit of welding and you don't need it to look pretty, Arc is cheaper and easier to set up if you can't store gas bottles. I only do gorilla welding (ugly but strong) and I've never been able to afford a mig, so I just use an old MMA

Onsite Support were doing a special on a decent arc welder for around £300+VAT.

I've never welded car bodies, only chassis and chunky metal so can't comment on mig. Looks more tricky than arc which is just point and shoot.
