weird wipers

came out to the car this morning to find the wipers running!! Car was not locked, but the key was in my hand. To be fair, it was raining!
Ran the bloody battery down in the process. I did notice a bit of a clicking sound whilst under the bonnet the other day trying to deal with a far more serious problem, but was too ****ed off to investigate.
Dodgy relay? Any ideas?

I would say an electrical issue,as you dont state what vehicle cant be more specific:rolleyes:
 
Dicky relay/fuse box. Relays have a return spring to disengage the contacts. These springs snap and the relay drops under gravity to make the circuit when not energised.
 
Looking at the circuit diagram, the power to the relays is from the permenant live side (trace 30) and not from switched live (trace 15) so if the relay was sticking it could in effect turn the wipers on.

The BeCM switches the relay to earth to pull in the contact to power the wiper motor, so if the relay is stuck, it will continue to run...as far as I can see with my limited circuit dia. reading skills.
