I'm getting a really weird noise from the front of my truck which I'm finding difficult to locate. It sound like something metal is rotating, and rubbing against something else. It's a kind of squeeky noise, a bit like when your washing the dishes and you get something so clean it squeeks when you rub it. I thought it was a belt slipping.

I've replaced the accessory belt tensioner and this has made a huge difference. However, it is still happening. One thing to note is that I can see quite a bit of wobble in the water-pump pulley.

Another thing to note, and this makes me think it's not a belt at all, is when the noise happens...

Since replacing the tensioner, I now only hear it when the car is moving and is either in neutral or the clutch is pressed. As soon as I let off the clutch the noise goes away.

Any ideas?

Dont understand how when driving you hear noise and when clutch pressed as that doesnt add up when you say lift of clutch and noise goes away...

sounds like clutch release bearing but that would come from the back of the engine not the front. is there a shield on the front pulley? clutch depression would affect that as the crank moves slightly back and too on a worn engine.

If it was bearing how would he hear it when driving as clutch wouldnt be engaged but when foot of clutch noise goes away...unless he means while driving the noise is there when changing gear...
