I have a 2000 dhse . About 3 years ago had a fault where going up hill would loose power and struggle, cut a long story short when Maf disconnected problem solved. Hence replaced Maf.
Anyway last week same thing happened so disconnected Maf straight away problem solved, plug Maf in problem back. I thought the Maf wasn't supposed to affect the power like this? Is it anything to do with the fact I changed my engine to a pre EGR on when it let go?
Rangie is running fine now but it is a puzzlero_O

Whilst the MAF has nothing to do with fueling a faulty one can cause the ECU to become confused and cause problems.

Cheers Wammers I think you have mentioned it before. Is it worth buying another Maf or leaving it as seems to run fine just unplugged

Up to you, MAF is only for measuring exhaust gas ingestion when EGR is working. If you disconnect it even when it is working fine all you will get on Nanocom is airflow error. How the engine runs should not change.

Cheers that's what it shows, air flow error. Will save myself £50 and spend it on something else

@Mark Piercy had run around trying MAF plugging/unplugging
think in end he had to bite the bullet get genuine
Luckily I had a Vauxhall omega bmw airflow meter. It's 20yrs old and still does its job. A pierburg model. I would have liked a new one but not just yet.. ;)
I did have to buy a Bosch injector n°4. THAT WAS NEW. 300€ neeeew:eek:

If you do brim to brim checks, you will likely find that there is a small increase in fuel consumption, may also fail the MOT, it certainly would over here.
Got a guy up road from me who breaks RR. Going to see him Wednesday to use his Nanocom so will see if he has one

The Pierburg hot film MAF is very reliable, proably more reliable than a Chinese copy sold as OEM:rolleyes:

So you changed your engine to one with an alloy manifold is that correct?

No full engine. Bought a complete 97 plate P38 of a friend and swapped engine over ( well local indy did for me)

So alloy manifold no EGR connections to exhaust manifold and no EGR valve. You are running same ECU but no EGR valve and no IAT sensor under manifold connected.
