FYI, Trailwise the replacement for the "official" GLASS/TRF instance of Wayfinder is now close to launch (it's been close for a while due to lack of volunteers for testing). Following a suggestion from a member of the development team
, the GLASS Executive have decided to offer temporary free membership of the Wayfinderproject (grey official GLASS/TRF Wayfinder) and Trailwise until 3 months after the launch of Trailwise to end users. After Trailwise has been running for 3 months, the temporary free memberships will lapse unless the user qualifies for continued Trailwise membership by virtue of being a GLASS or TRF member or a member of a GLASS Affiliate.
This means that the GLASS Wayfinder is now free to use for as long as it continues to exist - so there is effectively no limitation on the number of Wayfinder accounts that will be available to members of GLASS Affiliates, in the short term. (Some of us are hoping that will become the long term position too).
If anyone who does not currently qualify for free membership wishes to take up the temporary free membership, they should email [email protected] and provide the following details .......
* name (first name, last name)
* preferred user ID (plus one alternative in case that is taken)
* postcode
* the email to which you wish the notification to be sent.
* stating that you agree to the GLASS code of conduct found at http://tinyurl.com/3sjhfm
* giving an undertaking that information on either database will be used only for personal use.
The account that is created will remain valid until three months after the launch of TrailWise unless they continue to qualify by other means.
