whats that mean?
Square land rovers are called tratters on ere. Their owners drive them shouting ooow arrrr out the window whilst pretending to be farmers. We don't have many problems with rust on Freelanders other than accident damage not repaired propper or external damage like stone chips cutting back to bare metal. There's a lot of freds in the tratter section on rust and it's prevention.

If there's damage then protect it with something. The fool tank guard will rust if scratched. Good idea to give that a coat of something to save replacement later on. I used hammerite with added waxoyle. I also took the plastic covers oft the sills and covered the sill bit then put the plastic back. Reused rivits but put small wood screw in instead of the crap plastic ones. Have a look for damage and go from there.

Mine had a lot of surface rust underneath, it had been used for many years towing a caravan so sat on grass a lot.

I jacked mine up, gave a good pressure wash, let it dry, then got hold of my bro's air compressor and waxoil, and sprayed it myself, took about an hour.
