what if any treatment to my chassis would you recormend for all kinds of offroad use, iv decided to do something about it now while its been cleaned for its mot, what i had in mind was eather wax oil, under sealant or spraying it with engine oil just wanted some advise from experiance thanks.

waxoyl probably the best, painting with engine oil 2nd, underseal 3rd!

Not a big fan of underseal, as it can allow ingres of water under it, and the underseal can hide the growing mess underneath.

I use waxoyl, and old engine oil sometimes as a top-up... Waxoyl (or dinitrol, very little difference imho) seems to take pretty well. Needs topping-up every year-or-two.

Old engine oil can be a pretty-good short-term protector.

You will get loads of divided opinion on here...See

Do a search on the forum for waxoyl and you'll find loads of threads discussing this option...views always divided!

I've always painted mine with cheap multipurpose grease, do it once a year.
Car's 15 years old, no corrosion on chassis.
I spray a 50/50 mix of old engine oil and white spirit on the rest including cavities and inside chassis, seems to have worked.

All depends on what year of disco, later D1's were under sealed and with wax in the cavities ie. doors so it's just 1/2 a day of waxoyling underneath.
If u have a D2 then it's the full monty with the waxoyl as a D2 was not treated from the factory.
Once the waxoyl has been done it only needs a quick spray over once a year. All things change if you off-road and more attention is then required but that's up to you.

Waxoyl can and does go hard and brittle. Thin it down with a little CLEAN engine oil and leave the tin in the airing cupboard for a couple of house to make it easier to apply. The engine oil will make it more elastic/greasy.
You shouldn't use old engine oil because it is actually mildly corrosive due to its acidity not to mention a bit rough for the old lungs:D

I wire brushed & re-painted an old bm I had with POR15. lasted a year 1/2 hard use without chipping off. gonna do the same to the disco + waxoyl if theres ever a dry spell

got a few bits on my front inners that need welding some time n all
