Water under the spare wheel

I have been trying to stop the water getting into the boot area - and sitting under the spare wheel.
It seems to be coming from the rubber seal around the tailgate, and running down under the flap which lowers when the tailgate lower section is open.
I have tried to order a new rubber seal from a number of the usual suppliers but they are on back order at landrover - so its a long waite for a replacement. (Even then its £105 with the vat).

Anyone else solved this without a new seal?

theres a fix on rangerovers.net it involves bending the lip that the seal fits on by about 5 or 6 mm. then refitting the seal.

automd.com for technical bulletins. I used the tailgate 'bendy lippy' thing and refitted my old seal - worked a treat.
