Mates P38 4.6 with thor engine needs a water pump, just wondered if any brands are better than others, he was offered a Bearmach for £27.
What do you guru's think?? :)

dont get britpart or you will be doing it again soon, theres arguments for the ones with the metal impeller not the plastic ones being better

island 4x4 do an oem quality pump for £50 plus vat. Has the metal impeller. Used it myself. As others advise; avoid the britpart plastic version. Also check the viscous fan coupling while your there. Easier to change both at the same time.

Just before I bought my P38 it had a new water pump (allegedly a Britpart pump according to the spannerman who maintained the car before I got it) it failed again a few months ago, it had a metal impeller, the impeller itself was busily working its way through the pump body as the bearing obviously exhibited some play for some time. the replacement Bearmach also had a metal impeller. The (allegedly) Britpart pump lasted 25K miles. Some Britpart bits seem okay - others are utter, utter, utter ****e.
