doubt that it would block the heater pipework sufficiently to prevent any heat at all. try disconnecting the output side of matrix that goes to metal pipe along manifold, plug the pipe temporarily, and fill header tank. your looking for flow from output side.
if it were mine, i would also hold the rubber output high up, (maybe also extending it 12 inch), fill header tank and replace cap then run engine to confirm pump is actually pumping thru matrix.
if no flow then would investigate blockage.
if water flows, investigate air lock or heater problem.

this is assuming the head gaskets not already cooked. are you getting any pressure from the header tank?

Just read that last post nrg... thankyou will have to try that one too.

For the last half hour I have been reading Midnight moochers post on his poor HG problem, pressurizing and all sorts and my heart really does go out to him as I find that I am in the same situation has he is in terms of trying to locate the problems.

Nice to see your input in that one NRG. (Felt that dids was a little sharp at times)

coolant problems and pressurised systems are hard to deal with as it can be hard to detect, if I finally get mobile I will dedicate my time to helping out someone here at landyzone. thats a promise. Mark my words.

successfully managed to recover the pieces and now I am back on the road, would have to say to all those that ever attempt to recover pieces that careful thought need to be put into thinking how and when you will flush a system

to that end I would advise :

your going to have to dump the coolant,

when you flush system, ensure working temperatures are suitable as I found that flushing at wrong time caused ice due to snow and what not,

defrosting was hard core with a kettle and many many large flasks of boiling water to free the system.

check check and recheck to ensure that you dont have an airlock.!

Need advice? give me a message. happy to help.

fantastic!
(and cheers for the comments!)

as a light hearted aside, we were shifting a micro brewery over xmas, stripping out last week. we dropped the water contents of a full ibc container onto the floor to drain off. what we hadnt accounted for was the freezin temperature up here, and 200 gallons promptly froze.
made for shifting the gear about a bit interesting....
