HI Guys,

Picked up a cheap td5 defender with Head Gasket Failure. Water in oil. I've cleaned the gunk out ( as best as can be!) and replaced the Gasket.

Now my issue is the coolant system is pressurising to the point where the pipes will burst off.

I have bled the system but air is still coming out of header tank and top hose tends to fill with air.

Im thinking water pump failure but not worked on a TD5 before so any input would be very much appreciated.

Never got that far just fitted new gasket to be honest.
If you have continuous bubbles in your coolant and it is pressurised to the point of blowing pipes off its time to remove the head and have it checked out as it sounds like combustion gasses are getting in to the cooling system

Sadly I reckon the water pump just about moves the coolant around, couldn't pressurise the system - that would be combustion pressures........ A
