i have bin told that you can put a marigold glove around distributor to make it water tight while going offroading just wondering does the distributer get hot and will this method cock anything else up cheers ..............

Shouldnt effect the heat of it at all, not sure its gonna make a lot of difference to the wet performance either, keep top quality leads on it, you can probably get a proper fitting purpose made boot to fit over it

It only works if you use a pink glove apparently.

You will need something on the coil too. But a liberal coating of WD40 before and after would probably be a good barrier as any. Unless you like the look of a condom pulled over parts of your ignition system :D

you can get the 2 piece waterproof kits for £30squid

I have been told on a v8 you can take the dizzy out and theres two holes at the bottom which can be plugged up and it never gives any issues.

I did see a 4.6 v8 hybrid on saturday drive through deep water with this 'fix' and it didnt mis a beat

Its water getting inside the dizzy thats the main problem anything that stops it is good. when I trialed a series 2a petrol I just plastered the dizzy with vaseline, messy but worked well.

I used an old plastic pop bottle, cut it down and slotted it over the dizzy then sealed any gaps with electrical tape, and did the same for the coil.
It still keeps running on all cylinders with the water level over the bonnet.....and it's a V8!
