Disco 2 Water leak

I did notice water around that unplugged 8mm threaded hole so I'm going to put a couple of bolts with sealer in those. The sunroof drains, I think the Mad Hat Man was referring to them being too short & possibly the water draining down them was finding its way through any dodgy sealing around the A pillar area. Hi, yeah I could kick myself for not sealing the heater intake whilst I was there. I've come home tonight after a downpour & along with all the water I poured over it at lunchtime I've had no water trickling down past those bolts like before so I'm sure the gutter sealing has sorted that leak. I left a drip tray below the heater unit & there was about 3/4 of a pint in it.

So today I've managed to seal the heater intake so once it's cured I'm hoping it will cure that leak. We've had rain this morning & there's been no water from the A pillar. I've also put some 8x12 flanged bolts, with sealer on the threads, in those holes. I've had all the roof covered apart from the l/h fr. corner just to eliminate the possibility of the water from the sunroof drain tubes causing any issues. My sunroof drain was blocked on that side I sent compressed air down the pipe and that blew mud out underneath the car, was quite surprising how much was in there

1. Water leak which ruined fr. sunroof motor, cured by resealing sunroof frame to roof ( drain tubes weren't blocked).
2. Leak in r/h top corner of the windscreen, staining the roof lining. Cured by resealing the r/h gutter & or sealing the top windscreen rubber.
3. Water leaking into the fr. passenger footwell which was coming down the inside of the A pillar from dashboard level. Cured by resealing the l/h gutter & resealing around the heater intake under the scuttle panel.
4. Water sloshing from the rear sunroof tray. Cured by unblocking the drain tubes, sunroof removed & resealed to body just for good measure.
5. Leak down inside of rear side windows, the heated ones in luggage area. Cured by resealing around frames.
I hope this may help others but it's certainly not a definitive list of all the water ingress problems on a D2, in fact I've probably only scratched the surface.

While you're there, it's probably a good idea to remove the dashboard support bracket (pic #4) and treat it for rust. It will also give you access to the area behind it and the 2 bolt holes. When I did mine, I used a bottle jack and a block of wood to support the dashboard before removal. You have 4 bolts in total and removal + installation is a 5 mins job.
