Hello everyone,

My S Reg 300 TDi Lanny started suffering from eractic temparature levels a few weeks ago, although has never boiled over, in fact its never gotten above half way on the temp gauge, me stopping before hand.

I have been loosing water from the car although I couldn't find a leak...up until now. (I suspected a head gasket and have geared up this weekend to take the head off).

Anyway, I checked the car over carefully, and noticed a leak from behind the P Gasket area. The leak seems to be coming from somewhere directly behind the Oil Dipstick. I have attached a photograph. It looks like I'll be replacing the P gasket (I have done this before, 35,000 miles past) but I'm not sure on this leak. Any ideas Boys & Girls ?

Cheers

Yup, P Gasket.

Good job I decided to take a good look around, I was convinced it was the Head Gasket, and had started stripping the head down. Anyway, here's some photo's as well.

Cheers

Off to get a P Gasket & Water pump whilst I'm at it.

Cheers

I fitted a P Gasket in April last year. That implies that its only reletively recently it was fitted. Thing is, I 've done 40,000 miles since than and the gasket was a non genuine one. I suspect it was shoddy and I used the wrong gasket sealant. (I used Loctite Blue Silicon Gasket sealant).

I'll get a genuine part this time, and of course a genuine water pump gasket.

Comments ?

Cheers
