Good afternoon all
I have a 1999 Disco2 and have been fighting the dreaded water ingress for some time now and slowly narrowing the search down
To help save the car and speed the search I’ve now removed the front carpets and upon doing so am seeing water coming into the front of the car via the little hole in the picture (next to the end of the blue steering lock)

does anyone know where the water may be coming into the car to get into the channel that’s it’s coming out of

thanks in advance
Steve

Could be worth lift the bonnet allow light to enter the top. Hopefully you can peek looking upwards to see any light leaking through. Another is check engine bay grommets entering the bulkhead. Alternatively use a dye to locate a route

Can't think/see where that might be, a zoomed out pic might help.
apparently sun roof drains can snap off and the water then goes down the A pillar of summat and then finds its own way to places. could it be this?
Fishing in the dark here, I'm afraid.
But +1 to the above anyway!

Better photo
Right, thanks for that!
Yes as others have said you ought to do what they say but also I believe there is a hole or two behind the bonnet, under the windscreen, drain holes or summat to do with the pollen filter maybe? That can lead to problems.
I have to confess I am hazy on this as i don't give a feck about pollen and that is a heck of an expensive filter, so I just leave it alone.
But as I say, that may even be on the other side.
Sorry to be so vague!
But Haynes will tell you where to find it!
Best of luck with it all!
:):):)

Just fainted.

That was just the start of it. The inner wing where it joined the outer wing was rusted and then I moved to the drivers side. It wasn’t as bad as the passenger side thankfully. All this was after I rebuilt the back end of the chassis.

Ok, so it’s stopped raining and I’ve popped out….

grabbed the watering can and poured into the top of the bulk head and it comes inside the footwell via the small hole….. checked the wiring grommet as suggested and all is dry (from what I can see)
So I’m thinking now maybe it’s coming in via the threaded bolt head in the rain channel….
Just going to let it dry and see if a dollop of seam sealant will sort ?!!

I’ll keep you updated.

So as the back end of the chassis has already been done I have this to look forward to then?!:eek::eek:
I hope not. My thoughts on mine rusting in that area are that the bulkhead soundproofing trapped water right down in the corner of the engine bay where the loom comes through. It’s like a wee shelf there and it’s kind of out of sight where it is, so dirt and moisture just sits there :( I had to cut some of the inner wing away just to get to it from below. If I had to do it again, I would have the outer and inner wing off.
