Hi!

So I got water in the tank, don't ask how.... But the car was running and then smoke started coming from the exhaust, it stopped and then I tried to start it again and again..... But nothing, tried some starting gas, that did it but then the car just died. So opened the little lock in the filter and saw that it was coming out mixture of water and diesel.

Question now is how to get it out, the tank is full so it weighs some. Is it anyway of letting it drain from the filter?

Regards

How could I use the lift pump? Is it in RAVE?
Was thinking of perhaps letting the car be in ignition and let it pump out of the filter? But it stop pumping after some seconds..

Thanks

The fuel lift pump is only powered whilst the glow lamps are on or when engine is running or on cranking after 1999. Find relay 12 remove it and feed a live from battery positive to socket 5. The one that is contrary in orientation to the other three. That will run the pump.

Are you sure its not just a build up in the filter that's what they are Designed to do your supposed to check the water trap as water is heavier than diesel it sits on the bottom drain filter fill it up again if water still is evedent then you have water intank but don't assume tank is full of it .

Hi!

No pretty sure i've got a mixture of water and diesel in the tank, released the cap on the filter and put on ignition like 10 times and everytime it came out a mixture of diesel and water m8. Since water is heavier than diesel so the water must sit on the bottom of the tank, does the fuel pump take out all of that?

Thanks!

If your getting your fuel from a little used sorce ie.. storage tanks ect could be condensation build up
Had it once at work we had a tank in the yard for the waggons but no one used it cos we filled up in petrol stations and when somone did use the yard tank it was full of water

Yes something like that, had some diesel left over in a tank, pumped it in the car, smelled OK. seemed that the first bit was water..

The socket 5, is it socket 85? Tried putting a needle in it and postive from a battery, roasted the needle lol.

Socket 5 no other. There are four sockets when you remove the relay three face in the same direction one does not. That is socket 5. A needle won't carry the current you need at least a 17 amp cable.

Think about it you wouldn't be able to run out of diesel if it didn't suck from near the bottom of the tank:)

Fuel pump casing sits on bottom of tank. However pickup is about 5/16, 8 mm above that, so you are never going to get everything out of tank unless you drop it and pour it out.

I did say near bottom no pump is Designed to drag the crap of the bottom unless you keep running on fumes but 8mm. Isn't much so no Doubt its water

Ps there is a pipe joiner just before the tank its a push on fitnent you might find that easyer to empty the tank although you still need the pump to run , you can get a bigger container under there;)

Unless you're going to remove the tank and drain it properly you will now always have water in the tank. There's a fuel additive you can buy which forces the water to be mixed and burned - dunno what it's called but it does work.

Hi again, did manage to start the engine.
Used one of the two metal thing that sits on a fuse, put in the socket 5 and took some copper wire to wrap it and connect postive to it and negative to engine bay, that did it. When I was sure there was no more water in the tank, I tried to start but everytime I cranked it I saw that there was coming out water from the engine (I saw this on the fuel line from filter) so I disconnected, put key in igniton and dieid this sel cleared that line. I duntil there wasn't coming out any water from the engine and it started.

Also heard of that additive, just need to find it lol.

Thanks!
