Water circulation problem
Can anyone help with the following problem. Land rover disco 2 4l petrol v8, with gas conversion. Disco started over heating so fitted new rad, water pump, thermostate. But still no joy:confused:. Still gets hot. The heaters still work as normal. Top hose is hot but bottom is cold. Tryed old thermostate, open permanently by smashing gut's out (spat dummy out, pushed pram over:mad:) . After all this water still not circulating around engine, all part's fitted are new not 2nd hand. I'm pickled so time to pickle your brain's. All i'm thinking now is gallon of petrol cos enough is enough, but i can't due to love for my landy disco 2 .

Please can anyone help help

How do you know it's not circulating? The bottom hose shoulb be cooler than top hose, but it won't be cold. Try squeezing the top hose with ya hand then have someone operate the throttle to make the revs go up quickly then back off, repeat this a few times you should feel the hose tryinfg to push against your grip as the revs are increased, if so you have circulation.

you mite be right mate. i just remembered the other week we had grill off front end due to fan (not viscous) packing in. when fan was off my dad grabbed a hand brush to brush off all the crap and fly's ect on rad, i think this rad is engine oil cooler? anyway as he did it wasn't just crap coming off but rad falling apart (fin's). so im thinking oil is getting hot, so am i right thinking cooling system won't stand a chance if oil ain't cooling down. i'm not update with cooling system on these disco 2, i'm comfused.com. i'v got a nose bleed from it, blood everywhere. and thanks for your reply mate.

try running the engine for a short time with pressure cap off the expansion tank to allow any air that may have been trapped in system to escape
