Hi, please see the pics of my TD5 wastegate valve. Is the gate open in the first or second pic?

Second picture. The shaft gets longer as it opens, standing at the left hand side of your vehicle looking into the engine bay the wastgate opens when it moves to the rear of the vehicle.

Looking at the twist in fitting it looks to me like someone has tried to adjust the wastgate by turning the actuator fitting and not the knurled nut

Ok. Thanks. The fitting was me. It was stiff to adjust. I thought it was as you say. However the arm on the gate comes forward more than I expected. Is this normal?

I am not sure from your pictures just how much movement you have but have found this on U-tube.
