I could have filled the answer with bull poo as to why flow rates etc, etc but sure that is not what you wanted really:lol:
:lol:Anyone reading this old thread who has a small spray on the front screen should do this as i did it on my Def90 TD5 and its fine now.
Remove the front headlight panel and lights.
Look in the hole where the headlight was to see two washer pumps on the washer bottle inside the front wing.
One will drive the rear and one the front washer jets.
They are simply pushed into the washer bottle and have a rubberised plug that fits in the hole where you simply push in the new pump.
I also changed the plastic pipe from the front washer pump up to the squirter nozzle at the bottom of the windscreen too.
In the plastic pipe is a small non return valve which was my problem and was blocked with crud. Changing this would have resolved it all.
I also added a new front screen nozzle.
It helps if you have a rear wiper and nozzle to have a mate touch the pump to make sure you get the front one first go as there are two pumps.
I have now fully MOT standard windscreen washers with the original two jets both working well.
Thats all there is to it but a quicker fix is just to change the non return valve for about £2-3 or so or cut the plastic pipe at the back of the front nearside wing
and put in an online connector and non return valve in a new bit of plastic pipe down to the pump behind the headlight. A 10 minute job.
Now i know how it is all done , i have added two more screen washers in the bonnet and each has two outlet jets. I drilled two holes for the new nozz;es and ran the new pipe from the NS front wig to the bulkhead and then along it under the windscreen to the two new nozzles and i used one T piece for the NS one giving me 4 more jets to clear each wipe on the front screen. I did this as i had a spare washer pump having taken off the rear wipe to fit the on-door spare wheel plate and wheel. I added new plastic pipe, new non return valve and new pump all for about £14-15 and 10 mins to fit. I have a torrent of water if i want it using the standard wipe stalk squirter or, the new one that is fed by the old rear screen dashboard switch for the addon 4 nozzles. The new ones push out more fluid than the original nozzle does plus they have much more adjustment using a pin. SO you choose which squirt you want .
A cheap and quick upgrade and reuse of the rear window switch . If you ever want to return to a rear wiper and washer , all you have to do is reconnect the original feed pipe in place of the addition i added for the two bonnet ones. Or put in a tee piece and keep them all!!!!!!!
No washers is an MOT failure so i had real worries when mine didnt work and all over about a £2-3 non return valve.
