Good evening again.
I have a plan!
It is not about starting all over again with just a handful of men. I always thought that was a bad idea because we need lady members of the opposite... thing, dont we, or has biology changed since I left school.
No, my plan is that this weekend I am going out to look at a couple of Range Rovers. I am going to look at a 2.5 DSE P38 and a 4.4 V8 L322. Two totally different ends of the market, I think you would agree.
The question I have, is that I know you fine fellows and lady-fellows between you know everything there is to know about thing RR related, so do you, in your infinite wisdom believe that an after market warranty is a good or a bad thing.
I ask because the warranty I had with my XF when it detonated was totally no use to man or beast.
Is there a warranty company that you know or recommend or should I try to find a market for my last remaining kidney.

I bought a used merc a few years ago from a main dealer it came with a 12 month merc warranty and i absolutely caned it. At under 50k miles on the clock it needed a list of things the length of your arm including a wheel bearing and a turbo.
That was a manufacturer's warranty though. There's plenty of folks out there offering 3-6 months warranty, i got one with my beemer, and needed it the week after it lapsed so dunno if it was any good

Thank you. I think that I will look to find a buyer for anything left that I have two of. I think the general opinion is warranties are of little use.

While i have your attention, what are your thoughts on superchargers. There is a pretty nice 4.2 supercharged L322 near me, but knowing my history with turbo's etc is it going to be a mahoosive mistake.

Age and mileage will be against you.
If you find one, it will be getting on for 1k per annum.

The 4.4 Ajv8 is plenty powerful enough without a supercharger and is probably less likely to have been caned hard.
Also, with the s/c any fault with the engine and the garage will blame the supercharger and charge you arm plus leg to replace.

Late 2005 onwards will be jag lump.
If there are photos of the engine see below.
Silver in the middle is jag, black in middle is BMW
