Hi sorry to be so bold as to post so early being a newbie and all that. but i would love some input on this wee perplexing situation. please

I have a new thing flashing at me. mm nice. but no really its on the dashboard. well not really it in the lcd in the dashboard. its to the left of the mileage and it looks like a square box with a diagonal line from bottom
left to top right with a linne through it horizontally halfway up.

The only thing a bit odd is the central locking is being a bit tepremental.
i cant find anything in the handbook for this. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

i still love my TD5 though regardless of how many ecu's it has :)

Do you have an Auto? Is this bit of the LCD the bit where it normally says what gear your Auto is in? D, N, P, etc.

Thanks for that but its a td5 manual. the lcd is a little thing, and the message is to the left of the mileage reading. but this morning the central looking was working okay and it never came on. ??? however i fancy the ice overnight had done something. i have a feeling its cos the sunroofs are leaking, it hink maybe a volume thingy sensor has got to wet.

but i couldnt understand what it was trying to tell me, also it made about 5 pings when i turned the key on.

However like I say it seems to have healed itself this morning.

i guess its wait until the rain again, which is probs some time soon :(

friend of mine had same box flash up on his series 2 disco he had a loose wire in fuse box soon as he tightened wire box disappeared

When that "symbol" appeared on my Disco 2 it was caused by a loose connector to the display.

I say "symbol" because I don't think it's a symbol as such. I don't think it means anything specific. It just looks as if all the bars in the display LED get set to ON when there's a poor electrical connection somewhere relevant. Unless it indicates the headache you get trying to find the problem...
