Hi, I replaced a length of the live feed to the coil today, it was a bit charred. All fine but the orange "cold start" warning light now comes on and remains on while it is driven. Any ideas on why this is? I did not disconect any other wiring.

Didn't we have this one a while ago? Someone used the live to the cold start switch as a feed to the coil? We need some wiring colours here.....

White wire live feed to coil, just chopped off knackered lump and replaced with a new lenght. car running fine before with no orange warning light. After replacing wire the car still running fine but warning light remains on.

That sounds right. There should be a white/black wire from the cold start warning bulb to the switch on the choke cable then a black wire to earth (possibly via a switch in the thermostat housing area) Does the light go out if the white/black wire is removed from the switch?
