Oops....too late.

Just found another in MoT history which, for two consecutive years, has its mileage recorded in klms. However, when you do the conversion back to miles the vehicle lost quite a few thou in that period. But should an MoT tester be recording kilometers?

The grey import Honda I bought recently has a km speedo with a mph transfer on top but does of course read in kms. Looking at the MoT history, some testers have recorded it as kms, others miles.

Tester should do it in miles.
Mistakes do happen but usually they are obvious.

I feel your pain on finding a good D2.I found a D2 with fantastic body work but they let the power steering fluid leak become so bad, there is no power steering and also the ACE is is problematic too. Then you find one with a spot on engine and history but the interior looks like it hosted caged dog fights.

That's just been my problem, looked at lots of other cars but to be honest I can't get rid of the Disco fever. My wife is the same - we know their faults. The last Disco 2 we had the horn didn't work so I checked all the fuses etc and eventually obtained a pair of new ones on an auction site. They didn't work so the I checked the rotary coupler and that was a tense job for me, a total non-mechanic. I had to disengage the air bag trigger, then managed to buy a good coupler from an Indie LR garage and it worked. Later it was a fuse box change caused by the leaky roof light dripping over the dash and causing corrosion but at least we can make 'em work can't we. Or maybe not.

Knock a large amount off and fix it.

Budget for the parts and labour, say £1000 less than they were asking.

Hi MJI,

They were asking £1,750 and I was offering £1,200 as the local 4x4 mechanic said I'll be looking at £600 for a new PAS pump and potential work on the ACE. They turned the offer down but I've got a feeling that the D2 will not be going anywhere quickly. So I'll make another offer in a month and see where it goes.

I suspect that part of your problem is budget. Few D2's at £1500-1700 are going to be perfect. If you want better, you simply have to pay more.

must admit i first started looking at d2 , found quite a few were asking silly money , saying they were sound and on inspection the chassis were rot

think thats why i started looking at the d3 and found online quite a few that were the sane money as a d2

mines the base model and felt it was better than buying a higher model due to the extra amount of electronics , starting at the bottom so to speak, also on checking didn't realise the insurance goes up the higher the model
