Voltage draw

Hi, My 300tdi is loosing charge when switched off. What is the normal draw for the motor when switched off (radio, alarm, clock etc)?

Shouldn't be noticeable

Check earths for drain or alternator my charging when runnin so it looks like its losing charge

voltage is irrelevent, its 12V.
its current that matters, shouldn't be more than a few milliamps.

sure its not a duff battery? disconnect it over night for a couple of days and see if its still draining.

I presumed he meant current tbh as he said it was dropping unless he means battery capacity is dropping voltage wise ? In which case it would be a duff one

My 200tdi with immobiliser and clock (radio off) draws less than 30mA. Can't remember the exact figure but will check if helpful. I had similar charge-loss problem at one point which I cured with a new battery

battery would not cure a draw/charge loss......... what a new battery may of done was keep up with the draw/charge loss, and went undetected

Old battery was losing charge and after a while wouldn't start the Landy

New battery didn't lose charge and I have had no problems since I changed it

Current draw was the same with both batteries but the old one couldn't keep up with it

A new fully charged battery should have a no-load voltage of around 13V, since their are 6 cells each producing 2.2V wired in series. The current for alarms and radios should not drop this voltage significantly. Measure it by disconnecting the negative terminal and connect your multimeter in series with the terminal and chassis/body (need a good earth), making sure you have set the dial to a DC milliamps or amps range.
