For my peace of mind I would want to check the gear levers line up with the hole in the tunnel. I don't know the different length possibilities with the different engine and gearbox permutations, so I'd want to physically check it. Some of the guys above have obviously done engine and gearbox swaps and so know the score. Personally, I think it's good to check things though as it can help avoid wasted time, effort, money etc. You'd just need to dry fit the bulkhead and tunnel.Took the damed thing off, will worry about it later. Need to see if everything else is gonna fit. On my own tonight so can’t lift bulkhead on, what else is there to try and see if things are gonna fit that I can lift myself?
Believe it or not but It’s been dry stored for a few years now, think that’s from where I jet washed the whole thing off, the whole thing turns freely on the big nut at front. It is getting full timing kit and water pump, is there anything else that should be changed while in there?? What’s the best way to clean wheels without damaging them ?Those pulleys all look a bit grotty, I take it the engine has been sat outside unused for a few years. You'll need to give all of them a good spruce up to prevent horrible noises and premature belt wear and definitely fit a new tensioner pulley.
The ribbed pulleys need a good wire brushing the flat pulleys sanding off and resprayed with etch primer then satin black paint.
Was supposed to wait for a Mate coming to help me and check if things fitted ok tomorrow but couldn't wait. Used the hoist to get bulkhead on, was quite easy really.
Anyway please excuse all the photos, got a bit carried away with camera.
As far as I can see things seem to fit ok, but then again Ive just guessed where they go but please tell me if there is anything wrong.
Also forgot to say, this Bulkhead is Not the Original, the PO thinks its off a TD5, Can anyone tell by photos ??
Thanks
Think its just the angel as theres plenty of room around.First couple of pics looks a little snug around bellhousing, or is it just the angle?
J
He says he thinks its a TD5, probably not then, any idea of what it is ? or does it really matter ?And TD5 has blade fuses not bullet so definitely not from TD5
Not a disco gearbox then, so how can fan be catching in steering box? watch this space
so dose everything seem to match up ok for the rebuild ? apart from the Steering box, You are spot on about my turbo see pic. Some more pics of my 300tdi-LT77 combination that may give you some idea where the engine sits in relation to the bulkhead and steering box.
As far as I can see, your engine is in the standard 200tdi, 2.5 N/A location, if the gear-box uses standard LT77 mounts, and the engine is level, it is the only place it can be.
Your turbo should be very close to the passenger foot-well, the small pipe at the rear should touch unless modified.
I see that you have a TD5 engine cross-member, this should make routing the exhaust a little easier.
I still think that a four-bolt PAS-box will cure your problems and allow you to retain the viscous fan.

Every thing looks to be where it should be.so dose everything seem to match up ok for the rebuild ? apart from the Steering box, You are spot on about my turbo see pic.
Thank You, was worried there was something drastically wrong.Every thing looks to be where it should be.
