Viscous fan removal. How is it done?

well my yoke must be different cos when i put the spanner on its just moving the shaft from left to right with the disk. i removed the pully with the 4 x 10mm nuts and now i cant get it back on so i can use it to jam the shaft and get the viscous coupler off. been at it about 4/5 hrs now. any more ideas anyone?

i include the following pic, its looking down behind the fan and the block my finger is pointing out the loose pully.

Ah'd keep tryin' tae get yer pulley back on if it were me. There might be a couple o' holes on it that ye can stick summit in tae help hold it while ye remove the big nut;)
 
I have tried everything to get my fan off but I cant stop the pulley from moving - tried hitting it to shock it, jamming a screwdriver between the waterpump pulley bolts.... not sure what else to try grrrr
 
ok well seem there was a small breakdown in the communication maybe i didnt explain right i had the belt undone and the so on, but not to worry i put it all back to how it was so were back to square 1 trying to get the viscous off

ok so should i be hitting the spanner to the left in this pic or to the right in this pic?

Try and get a long thin screwdriver or something to jam in on the small nuts and then a smart smack ( to the right in your pic) should loosen it then just spin it off clockwise in your pic.:)
 
When removing my fan the other day I got a 18" long flat bar, about 1" wide and 1/8" thick, it already had a hole in the end, and i managed to remove one of the bolts holding the water pump pulley onto the water pump shaft, then as I rotated the pulley the bar jammed against the crankshaft pulley, a few not so gentle taps on the spanner and it came loose.

It is a left-hand thread, so whack it clockwise.
 
success!!! finally it worked, i cramped it with a crow bar and smacked it with a rubber mallet as apposed to a hammer, anyway its off now and waiting on the new parts to arrive tomorrow then hopefully i should be back motoring!!
