Hi everyone, I have no experience with landys. I have just acquired a 1995 D130 TDI for a friend in the USA. He wants me to verify the chassis vin to the vin plate in the engine. Could anybody explain where exactly the vin number stamp is on the chassis, pics would help , there is a black tar substance on the chassis frame any recommendations on how to break this down to expose the vin stamp? Thank you in advance.

If the Chassis is still original then check on the drivers wheel and turn this outwards. Under the wheel arch you will see the chassis itself to the right of the orange yellow red or black bump stop. Hopefully under tar gunk a plate should stick out proud. to clean off the tar you will need a thinners to break down the tar Petrol Diesel or Gunk. Hope this helps:)

Not always easy to find/see.

Vin plate should be obvious under bonnet .

No it was bought sight unseen from overseas other than the ad pics, I am 6 hour drive from the seller, I won't be but he might although it does look very original, who knows I will soon find out though

Is it UK registered?...or been UK registered at some point...if so does it come with its V5 reg document?

I take it you mean from your mate in us by overseas?

It's a u.k registered D130 from new, my mate in the USA saw it online and contacted me to be the middle man, between him and the seller in Cornwall, yes I have the new v5 in my name temporarily until it's 25years old then it's getting shipped to the usa

Will it not have to be in his name to import it?

under stood the USA connection. The other half of the question is unclear
Arh, yes apologies , I'm the middleman her in the u.k between the buyer my mate in the USA and the seller down in Cornwall who is 6 hours drive from me, hope that clears up the confusion. I put the v5 in my name as I'm storing it in the u.k until it's exactly 25 years old then it's getting shipped over to the states
