i just wished to share that i had a nightmare with my steering wheel vibrating and a droning noise around 50mph.

well after alot of investigation and thanks to you guys going through the car bit by bit finally found that the front cv joint had gone on the front of the propshaft and found a garage in welling kent that rebuilt the joint only without having to buy a new propshaft.

i also found after great advice her that i indeed went online and found many propshaft repair companies that charged around £100-150 to rebuild the propshaft both ends and balance them.

the vibration has now totally gone.

this may seem a daft question but is there anything that causes these to go quicker than normal, ie driving style etc, what can makes these joints wear out quicker.

the car has now done 177,000 miles and just sailed through its MOT which to say the least im very pleased with.

as per advice also have 4 x new tyres, bridgestones .

lastly just wished to thank each and every one who helped me by showing me what to look for and how to resolve things and also wished to share what the problem was and hopefully may be of use to someone else of what to look for by checking the front propshaft cv joint.

hope this finds everyone in good health and looking forward to summer.

all the best and thanks so much again guys

yes there is something that causes cv joints to go,,,,,,177,000 miles!well done gary i hope my k series reaches that.mark

When I fitted the new VCU I also stripped, cleaned and repacked the CV joint (the original grease had turned to a thickish oil) so hopefully this should prolong the life of the CV joint.
