Is it definitely road speed related as opposed to engine speed? Do you get the vibration at the same revs but in Neutral?

Well it looks like there is an answer. When I first dropped it off a few weeks ago to be checked out, I had said ' I hope it's not the dreaded TC ' but with the U/J having play it was thought that was the issue. However, with further investigation by the guys at Gibsons and a little research from myself, it is now 99% positive that it is the TC.
So I have been given the name of a company in Glasgow called http://caledoniantrans.com/ , so it'll be a phone call tomorrow, to see what happens next.

Can't remember who's got what but the 02-05 4.4 petrol torque converter is a vibration like a cattle grid while accelerating slowly up an incline and stops at 56 mph and while vibrating the Rev counter needle can fluctuate slightly.
If you take your foot off the accelerator after 56 mph and the revs drop also points towards TC. I am only recalling Bemble and Saint but it's along those lines

Golden girl is going to http://caledoniantrans.com on the 13th to fix the issue. As said above it is now all pointing to the TC being the issue.
So thanks guys for input but hopefully this will solve it.
If I ever sell this car the new owner will be a lucky bugger considering how much I have done to her!

I did read somewhere that this vibration is the start of a failing gearbox. Anyone else heard that or am I imagining it?
It can be the start of a failing torque converter, try the very gradual acceleration up a slight incline and see if it does it with a slight movement in Rev counter needle

Fair one, I'm just about to do all the timing gear and vanos so if I make a cluster of that I'll be paying the scrap man to take it away :(

Luck is expensive when it comes to the RR, eventually if you spend all the money you have replacing all the parts of it then eventually you become 'Lucky'
if you are really lucky, somebody will steal it just after your buy it and the insurance pays out more than you bought it for, now that would be lucky:D
But i should say, thanks all the same, maybe we could make one good one out of 2 or 3 ****e ones from people on here, i know somebody that needs a block...

Ok so I know this post is a few months old but I've finally solved my judder at 55-60mph under light acceleration.
A quick recap to save having to read through the entire thread.
I amongst others thought gearbox or torque converter issue was causing the car to judder.
Well it turned out to be an injector problem.
I started having a few other issues so today replaced all 6 with tested used injectors.
I'm amazed how much better it starts and runs. And the best bit is the vibration has gone.
It was suggested that it could be injector issues before so I had them tested and they came back as all ok so the moral to this story is be careful who you get to do work for you.
Incidentally the injectors I bought were from a really helpful guy in Gloucester. Tested the injectors with me so I could see that they were 100% good.
Happy days, the biggest issue with my TD6 resolved
