My VCU was locked solid at 105,000 miles. Reconned it myself a couple of thousand miles ago and so far so good. Never did the proper one wheel up test timing it with weights but going by the fact I couldn't turn the wheel at all before and now it turns with just a little force on a wheel brace I'm happy.

BTW if anyone tells you you can't test a VCU with the one wheel up test they are either lying or talking through their arse.

is it possible to test a VCU when its not attached to the car? I took my prop shaft off yesterday as I need to replace my mounts, but now i'm thinking that the VCU has seized too :s

You would need a vice or similar to hold it in.
