Against a massive amount of advice to the contrary, I have bought a Rangie.

Collect it on Friday.

Tis one of the last on the 51 plate.

It is a 4.0 HSE. It's only done 48,000 miles and has about 14 stamps in the book.

Only 2 owners and the current has had it for 8 years. He hasnt been shy keeping it tip top.

Even better, everything works - suspension, A/c, all the electrics. Even the heated seats.

pics to follow.

It will still need new suspension airbags if they haven't been done:)

Great news fella. I also get my first Rangie in exactly 48 hours time too.

'Basic' 4.0 LPG'd version on a 00 plate. Mine has 150k main dealer FSH but has had all suspension stuff and cyl-heads/gaskets done... so what can go wrong eh?

I'll be driving it 160 miles home, then sticking a caravan on it and going to Carlisle for radio 1s Big Weekend with it the following day! Canny first test run! (Hopefully I won't be on here come Monday though asking "what does this mean" questions..)

Good luck.

Slipped liners, cracked block, EAS fault, gearbox problems just for starters:rolleyes:

OK, I was joking. Altho... Can I still get EAS faults even if my main suspension parts have all been replaced? And could cracked blocks and slipped liners still occur even if the CHs and HGs have been renewed? Surely Mr Tek we're being a tad pessimistic?..

EAS is pretty reliable if the air suspension bags are not leaking, otherwise expect compressor problems and EAS valve block problems. Height sensors may also be troublesome. None of it difficult to deal with. As for the engine, just look at all the threads with overheating as the subject:eek:
Good car if you are handy with spanners, otherwise might be a money pit:eek::eek::eek:

just done an MOT history report and all great - supports the mileage, and tiny advisories like reg plate bulbs and the like....

Edo,

Is it wrong to ask what you gave for it?

I thought mine was mint too when i picked it up and then the wheel bearing collapsed within 5 hours driving, battery started draining...........................

Still love it though but it tests me. Good luck with yours.

Yes, a bit alarming to be collecting on Friday the 13th, as was a mate collecting a rather more expensive Cayenne S from a main dealer!

TopBoy, think I have done ok - got it for £4.6k. Given the low owners, excellent service history, an amazing mileage, I am happy with what I paid.

Drove back from Chiswick today, and aboloutely everything works perfectly; Suspension, Cruise Control, every button switch and motor...

Checking the MOT history online, this backs up the history, and there were very few advisories - and even those were things like bulbs..

I have every expectation that it will need the odd repair, but I am comfortable with that. The fact the previous owner had it for 8 years is a good sign I think - he also said he had had 4, and this was the best by far (he would of course) and if he wasnt moving back to Sweden he would have kept it for another 8...

Service history:

23/04/02 @ 3,381
19/11/02 @ 7,113
26/11/03 @ 13,715
14/06/05 @ 19,649
