P38A V8 Not starting after head gasket change

How would I go about rotating the dizzy? Where is it located?

At least half the ignition leads are in the right place, so should fire up on 4 cylinders
 
Don't rotate the dizzy
Gee the manual, identify no1 cylinder.
Get it to tdc valves loose
Start imserti g leads onto dizzy cap where the rotor arm points
 
I'll have another crack at it in the morning. Still never found what that missing connector was for, nothing in its reach that it can connect to.
The mysteries of the P38...

i wondered when someone was going to spot that !

Are the coil packs connected up and properly ?

the injectors should be with the right connectors you'd have to get things pulled way out of alignment to get them wrong.

pull a plug and see if there is fuel on the plug, then you'll know if fuel is getting into the chamber, also while its out you can check to make sure its sparking.

lets narrow it down..

The V8 engine works on the lost spark principal looks like he has lost all of them. :D:D
 
Both coil pack multiplugs connected and secured.

Coil leads and injectors all connected where the cables have just enough length to reach every one.

I'll have a go at pulling a plug and see if there's fuel on it.

Quick question, does the fuel line that connects to the lower intake manifold have any electrical components/connections to it?
Or is it just a fuel line?
 
Just the fuel pipe. Have you checked it's getting fuel. If you emptied it it takes a while to fill before the engine will fire up.
 
Update: just tried starting it and then pulled a plug. It was dry and didn't smell of fuel. Obviously the engine isn't getting fuel.
Am I correct in saying that the only connections to the fuel system are the injector multi plugs, and the fuel line?

Also still no idea where this goes!

Update: I removed the fuel line and fuel leaked out, so it's getting that far

Just get a can of Eezystart and spray it into the intake on cranking - if it tries to or indeed runs on the stuff it means your compressions are reasonable and the sparks are in attendance at the required time.

That will narrow it down to a fuelling issue.

Tomorrow I will have a poke about at the rear of my engine, mines a '97.
 
The metal pipe which runs alongside rockers has a black plastic cover which covers a tyre valve. Depress centre and high pressure fuel should spray out?

Where is this pipe located? Is it the one that is connected above the injector rails?
