I have a land rover 1997 discovery 3.95 v8. and just recently it has started to feel like it is missing at low rev's but when I put my foot down it ruff for a few seconds then takes off like it should. now about 3 months ago I have put in new spark plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor and coil and it was going like a dream and now all of a sudden it is running very ruff at low rev's and I can not see what is the cause because like I said when you increase the rev's the problem seems to go away. Can anyone out their steer me in the right direction to find and fix this problem (fingers crossed)

Did you set the gap correctly on the plugs and make sure the contacts weren't loose, and route the leads so they don't touch each other or the block?
Run it in the dark and check the engine bay for any shorting
What plugs did you fit?

thankyou for your reply. checked everything on your list but the problem still on going. I even took it to my mechanic and he could not even help me. he thinks it might be the ignition module but I have replaced that 3 times in the last 12 months so I still cannot work out why it would be the ignition module, have you any other ideas that might help?

Hi. What you describe happened to my v8 a few years back. And it was fixed by new plugs, caps, leads etc. Did you buy quality parts or eBay deals?

A drippy injector perhaps, don't know tbh.
I'd probably remove the plugs one by one and inspect the electrodes to try to identify which pot is the culprit. I also have some led plugs that fit on the end of the spark plugs and flash every time they spark which can be handy when chasing an ignition fault. The reason I asked what plugs you are using is that 7 heat range or cooler can sometimes cause issues on 9.35:1 or lower compression ratios. Ngk bp6es or bp5es if your engine is low comp 8.13:1

thankyou all for your help, very much appreciated .checked the plugs one by one and found the dead one. a platinum plug lasted less than a year you wouldn't think it would you. Again thanks for all the help.
