Hi folks, as per the title on a later V8 without a distributor where does the ignition and fuel injection signal come from on the engine? I'm guessing it's using a crank sensor, and therefore wasted spark and just pulsing left and right injector banks alternately. Or is it a bit more clever and using a cam sensor and running sequential injection plus a single spark on individual coil packs?

Only interested as it helps a little V8 project I'm working on.

There is a camshaft sensor on the Thor engine, tells the ECU 'where' it is on rotation, the crankshaft sensor only tells it RPM and whether it has passed TDC on one cylinder, the camshaft sensor is running on a half-speed gear and has cut-outs that can give cylinder timing as well. On start-up the ECU remembers 'where' it is so it can fire the correct cylinders.

All in RAVE.
