The TD to V8 saga continues, with more goodies to buy....

Does anyone have the parts above? I will collect (depending on location
- north west is best, although 100 miles isn't a major distance for the
right kit).

I am told I want an lt85, or lt77 box, preferably with xfer box (or at
least the right gears to convert mine). This is mostly over my head, but
(having now found a mechanic willing to give this a shot) they're the
things on my list )

Help, offers and advice hugely appreciated!

Andy

Hi Andy, I put a V8 into my 90 when I rebuilt it nearly 2 years ago and had
to replace the LT77 that was on a 2.5 n/a diesel as the engine would foul
the bulkhead.

In all the gearbox cost me around £800! with buying it, having it rebuilt
and fitting twice!

So if you see a cheap V8 gearbox going, ask yourself why? By the way I paid
£350 for the box initially and you may be lucky but beware.

I have now done a reverse and put a Daihatsu 2.8 TD in onto the V8 box which
goes like stink and does double the miles of the V8 (doesn't sound as good
though ; (
) per gallon and insurance is £50 cheaper.

Good luck, moral is cheapest is not always best.

Regards, Roy

I'm probably not anywhere practical for you (hampshire, south coast)
but I have a 4sp (LT85?) from an early Range rover, which was mated to
a V8. I used the engine in my 110 but the gearbox (with reputedly 35k
miles) is still at the mechanics, since the handbrake is different,
and now available.

Thanks, but I'd really like the 5 speed box. Hampshire would have been a
pain, but right now my search is looking more like becoming nation-wide
than ever... :eek:/
