Hi
Mine seems to be leaking round the cap somewhere.
If pressure test, i can hear air escaping!

Anyone any experience of a britpart one? Only £20 compared to £150 for OEM. Do they work or is it a case of lasting a week

It's a new cap:p
Ordered a cheapo one and will report back
Bought it on the basis it might not solve the bigger issue, with a gamble at £20

What are you using to pressure test?

It's a pump and gauge affair that has an adapter to screw on in place of the cap. It's got a rubber seal in the centre so it blocks of the overflow

I did think about that, but then you can't be sure it doesn't also have issues., Any original one is going to be old and probably brittle. Mine looks ok, i can't see any cracks or other damage but i think it's leaking where the black threaded bit for the cap is stuck on
Even if the britpart one doesn't last that long but fixes my issue, then i can make a decision about oem/second hand etc

OK a static test unit. I have one of those. Has to be a failed tank if test unit is fitted ok.

You can pimp out your engine bay and get this from AlliSport...

Also... Try searching for a 1990 BMW E30 expansion tank part #17111712641. It's the exact same as our Disco 2 tank but it's thicker in construction, has a low coolant level sensor and it clips straight in. Another plus is that the max level mark is on the front rather than at the side.
If a Thor V8 owner is reading this, this tank doesn't have an extra hose port for the thermal body heater hose.

Some people reported that you can run the TBH hose into the BMW expansion tank by way of the level sensor with some hose fittings.
Hopefully it will stay pressurized doing this.

Thinking the cheap tank is no good, the thread goes soft as it gets hot, which allows it to deform and let the cap pop off! Not clever!
It's allowed me to progress though the other issues I've had though so not a complete waste of money
