Hi all
Yet another problem with my 2000 v8 disco, or possibly just me being landrover paranoid!!
Recently it has had new stripped engine (turner engineering) new head gaskets, heads pressure tested and skimmed, new radiator, top hose assembly and thermostat.
Problem is is the top hose still gets pretty hard, can squeeze it a little but not much, guess my question is what is normal? I no the expansion tank cap will blow at 20psi but that indicates max pressure not running pressure.
I have never had it over heat, it doesn't use any water, only fault other than that is I have had two pipes (flexi to heater matrix and rad to expansion tank) start leaking which convinces me there is too much pressure in the system and it's finding any weak spot, taking the truck to france at Xmas so want to make sure all is well!!

In the header tank there is a small stainless steel pipe that is fed from the top passenger side of the radiator.

Check that the pipe is clear as it bleeds any air in the radiator top corner out of circulation.

The pipes do get hard, but if the temp gauge is working and around mid-point, it sounds OK.

Ours has run for 80k miles since a short motor and it's the original radiator, never had any problems but we are on our third water pump.

Thanks peter, bleed pipe is also new and definitely working ok, think it's just me being paranoid as have had sooooo many problems with this disco it's unbelievable!!!
Why have you gone through so many water pumps?

We changed the water pump when we fitted the short engine, and have had two seal failures since then.

We carry a pump in the car now as the last one was Bearmach but failed in 30k miles with a water seal leaking.

Thermostat was renewed when the engine was rebuilt and never given any trouble.
