Hi All,

I'm currently up **** creek without a paddle.

I have so far stripped 2 rear hubs and was about the strip the fronts when I decided to check the wheel bearing packs I've got on the shelf. I've just realised the packs are missing the bearing lock nuts so I have no way of reattaching the hubs.

Do you know anywhere at all that still might be open that carry spares, and also that may be open late/tomorrow as I'm still trying to find someone who can fetch them for me as I've not got a second vehicle or anyone local atm to give me a lift/fetch them.

I need either:

8x FRC8700 (which I thought were in the packs as I'm converting to use 300TDi locknuts as I prefer them)

or

4x RFD100000 (td5 style locknuts if non of the above)

Currently completely stuck :/.

I always plan everything, but always assume everything turns up correct! Had these sat on the shelf for months so I should of checked they were there!!!

Does anyone per chance local to Derby, Uttoxeter, Stoke, Burton have these sat on the shelf I could buy? Would also cover diesel costs should you b able to drop them to me, otherwise I may be able to collect tomorrow etc?

Really really stuck as obviously I had panned to this over the bank holiday, then back to work Tuesday.

On a quick side note, Can I re-use the TD5 Locknut if they aren't to damaged or am I just asking for serious trouble here? Wouldn't normally let it cross my mind, but not sure what else to do!

Kind regards to all,

Luke.

Ideally new nut,if they will tighten up 180 degrees out of previous point and stake ok then swapping round so you can restake will get out ****

It's not best practice but unless the threads are stripped or something drastic like that, it will be fine. My own nuts have been re-used after I had the hubs off at Easter 2013 and I've had 15,000 miles trouble free motoring since then. Or at least trouble free as far as the wheel bearings are concerned.

Should be fine until the shops re open after the bank holiday at any rate.

Speaking of which. A previous owner of my old 90 had done the wheel bearings (Td5) and tightened the nut like you would with the old style 2nuts and tab washer and didn't stake the nut, Fair to say there was a lot of play
