Hello all, new to this place today and need advice before a planned journey in the morning.

Vehicle: Land Rover Freelander SE (05) TD4 Diesel 5 door Station Wagon

Problem: When started I've noticed a new humming noise from the front left side by the wheel arch. Been happening a couple of days now and today noticed a small jet of smoke/steam coming from a small outlet pipe just in front of the wheel arch (underside) when I got out. The noise continued for a couple of minutes after the engine had stopped then cut out.

Can anyone please let me know their opinions ASAP as I'm off to London in the morning and don't want to drive it if it's going to make things worse.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Must be autumn, and cold enough for the Fuel Burning Heater to kick in.

Advice to a newbie. You'll get in trouble for:
a - posting the same question twice
b - not doing a search before asking the second commonest Freelander question. (Don't, whatever you do, post a question about the TC & HDC lights without doing a search)
