Upper Steering column Series 2A Ambulance

The steering failed on our baby last night - she is a 1971 Series 2A Military Ambulance. Thankfully we weren't driving at speed (I use that term loosely....LOL) on the main road but pulling into our drive.

Having taken the steering wheel off this morning, we found that the upper column splines & steering wheel splines were worn out and had been secured onto the steering wheel with nails to give it grip!!

Does anyone have any ideas where we can find an upper steering column and steering wheel for the Series 2A Ambulance???

Are you sure the column splines are badly worn? I think the steering wheel material is softer than the column and should wear faster, leaving the column unscathed.

i guess the nails may have worn it to pieces as well
