Upgrading from the standard 2002 TD5 steering wheel

Another self cancelling question to add to the many already existing, I’m afraid.

I’m trying to fit a newer steering wheel to my 2002 Defender but the existing self cancelling spring clip has nowhere to locate on the newer LR steering wheel.

The first photo shows the back of the existing wheel;



The second photo shows the new wheel;



The spring clip fits onto a section of the boss which isn’t present on the new wheel.

Please could anyone let me know if there’s a different type of cancelling ring available which somehow locates into the four slots which are machined into the back of the new boss?

I'd be tempted to drill the boss and insert 2 sellock roller pins ... you can get a stainless 4mm pin (actually 4.4mm but fits tight in a 4mm hole) x 45mm for less than 50p on the Bay of E
