Hi all, was booked in today for brake problem, had a free brake check all was good apart from suspect air in brakes was told after new brake pipes from old galvanised to cooper would cause a travelling pedal, ok they say the only work that they had done was check and put the brake pedal under pressure and nothing else, was also told that pressure test a range rover is 10 psi and most garages only go to 3 psi and would have to go to main dealer, BUT after leaving the garage the pedal was solid, but they say they did no work on it. ???

Brake hydraulic pressure is a lot more than 10psi. I'm sure they bled the system.

I did phone once I got home after driving an hour or so and asked the question, they reassure me they only put the pedal under heavy pressure to check for leaks nothing found and no work carried out, very pleased with the results, and free.

The old pipes were not galvenised, they were mild steel with a resin coating on the outside. it does sound like telling porkies comes naturally to the garage.

Was told, if you think for one instant that I'm a liar the don't bother making comments to my Questions or answers, this is not the first time we crossed paths, trust me I do not like key board warriors.......

A total and utter load of bollocks.

so would it be a fare assumption that with having new pads and discs that a piston in the callipers got stuck and with them putting the pedal under pressure freed it making the pedal to go hard.

If the pistons were stuck the pedal would still be hard. The problem was, without doubt, air in the system.
The garage do not want to admit the fouled up by not properly bleeding the brakes.
