Unseen 200tdi

I'm looking to replace my 2.5na with a 200tdi but the biggest problem is the ones that are on eBay I haven't seen running. I am intending to rebuild the engine, new rings, Pistons bearing, shells ect. Is it safe enough to buy an unseen lump off the bay?

Difficult to know, probably yes if you're doing a rebuild anyway though.

I've got one I was planning to do the same with but now I'm happy with a petrol I'm unlikely to get round to it

Bought mine off ebay starter and water pump where US but has been great other than that, but it is a gamble.

I would try and buy one form a LZ member then at least you have a fighting chance.
I bought mine unseen from ebay, fitted it and it fired up first flick of the key, cant say fairer than that.
Ive got another one coming from another guy in a local 4x4 club, that I to want to rebuild

Well I managed to secure a genuine defender 200tdi which will make fitting it a lot easier. I've just got 1 question. Do I still need to drill and tap new bolt holes on the flywheel housing to get it to mate to my LT77 or is it just a straight for now

Why not buy one on ebay fitted to a mk 1 disco...and test drive it....thats what I did.
