Got a problem with my landy (1989 90), i get a vibration from what feels like the front right wheel especially going round left hand turns, occassionally going straight and never going round right hand turns. It feels like a mechanical rumbling that can be felt in the passenger seat and the pedals, not just the steering wheel.

So far I have changed the drivers side wheel bearing, checked all nuts to correct torque etc, fitted a new wide angle front prop, wheel balance and tracking is all straight and now i'm running out of ideas.

Could it be a cv joint? I can't afford to just keep changing things anymore in vain hope and need to get it sorted asap as i can't get to work so thought i would ask you lot first.

Many thanks guys, Harry

Cheers for the quick reply buster, i havn't yet. Is it a case of a crowbar/huge screwdriver and wiggle around? Which ones should i look at in particular?
Thanks, Harry
Ye could try just doin' a visual check on the bottom ones to see if any are cracked... failin' that, try and stick summit around the front ones (like one of them oil filter thingies with the rubber belt) and see what happens if ye push and pull it. It's just a thought ;):D

Okey dokey i will have a go at them tomorrow. Was planning on doing all my bushes later on in my summer hols (hopefully should have a set of half price genuine ones in the next few weeks :D) Any other possibilities in the meantime? I have little time off work atm so just want to check everything in one go.
Thanks Buster, Harry

Can't think of anything of the top of me head at the moment (brain shut down:eek:). What about yer swivel bearings or preloads??

Thanks for all the help Buster, I tried all of your suggestions but all looks to be ok. Annoyingly going to have to book it into the local ag. engineers for them to have a poke around but they seem pretty convinced it's a cv joint.

If you jack the front wheels off the ground them wobble them top to bottom and side to side, do you get any play. you may need to push quite hard.
I only say this as as from what you decribe, it sound a lot like a losses wheel bearing, i apreciate you have cheaked the torque but it may well have beded in scince.
This will also show up swivel bearing problems as well.

Cheers Discoandy, i know the swivel bearings are all good, they were done just before i bought it and i tightenend up the other bearing a few weeks ago. I still gave everything a jolly good shaking when on the axle stands and all seems ok, think i'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy the cv joint. Thanks for the help everyone
