OK, at the rear of my disco there are 2 body mounts, one either side respectfully. They are located behind the bumper underneath. They are the ones with the large rubber mounts. Hope you know which I mean. Well I noticed that one of them is corroded badly and one face of the mount has completely corroded away. I was going to weld a new plate to it, then noticed that the beam which the mounts are "mounted" to which runs side to side is badly corroded aswell. It runs to the top rear of the fuel tank and is a lttle harder to get to, to repair !! Is this common and what can I do to fix this as the MOT is due January and I presume that this forms part of it. Can any one help ?? Thanks in advance .

Thats the rear x-member alex.. and the reason the rear door scrapes the top of the bumper when you open it.
you can get patterned ones for about £150.00
once you start to get the old one off, you'll probly find the rear floors had it so be carefull!!! use a very short drill to remove the spot welds, otherwise your into the fuel tank If you cant be arsed to take it out!

Have fun!
