I'm going to try and underseal the Disco over the next few weeks. I plan on using the Hammerite Underbody seal with added Waxoyl, seems pretty good stuff. My question is, after I've prepared all the surfaces, should I paint everything with an undercoat first, such as Red Oxide or Hammerite No.1 Rust beater?

I believe you wouldn't need to as when you apply waxoyl etc it kills rust already there by starving it of oxygen and prevent more forming on the same principle, how true this is i don't know for sure but can see the logic in it.

Thanks for the replies both! I think I'll go ahead and give it a coat of red oxide first. The more rust prevention, the better I guess.

Chemical formula for rust......FeO3 (Fe - iron & O - oxygen). Take away the O & you don't get rust.
But the famous words from Neil "god" Young............rust never sleeps.

I've already got most of it done now mate, but thanks very much for the reply. I'd have to agree with Neil though, it's like holding back the tide. If what I'm doing gives me an extra couple of MOTs out of her, then I'm a happy bunny :)
