I have made some bits for my P38, so far I've got a steering guard, diff guards, jackable sills, side steps/tree sliders, and I've nearly finished a snorkel, just to put my mind at ease!
I'll post some pictures tomorrow, already had alot of interest in these bits, pm me for more info

I'd interested if you've a good design for a steering guard. I have diff guards already, but the front could do with some decent protection. Are they steel or ally?

8mm steel, can do stainless aswell, I have made up some brackets to mount the steering guard directly to the chassis, not using the flimsy tie down hoops like the ones I've seen for sale

there are a couple posted on the 19" wheel thread, but I'll put some more up tomorrow for you, I wanted to make it as strong as possible without making the car look rough, I've jacked my car on the steering guard, its plenty strong enough, I reckon could pick the car up with a crane by the steering guard!

As promised, heres some pictures, the first is the brackets which have been welded direct to the chassis to give a good firm mounting point and shock dissipation, the ones I had seem for sale were about £300 and mounted to the tie down hoops which looked a bit naff, and after seeing one in action all that seemed to happen is the first big bash dislodged it and the guard pivotted around the one mounting point and looked like it would eventually undo the nut, so I thought I'd do it properly with proper brackets, much stronger, and doesn't rely on bolts that are intended to do something else. Two days after fitting mine i've been out and its been used! done its job as the guy behind me in a classic bent his steering totally (both wheels facing different directions) on the same bit mine must've shoved out of the way,
Mine is 8mm steel although I'm told 6mm would be ample, I can get stainless and make one from that if anyone wanted that, the reason i didn't use ally is i didn't want huge scratches in the metal from rocks, and ally stretches i thought it'd end up all wonky after not very long!
The thing i didn't expect but did notice is it helps shift water out of the way, creating a bow wave and diverting the splash away from the engine bay, I'm happy with it anyway, so if anyone else wants me to make them one let me know

Do you profile cut 8mm steel for other things?

Hi,
Very nice work.
I'd like to see your other creations.

Here's a pic of my European Southdown Steering Guard. It's not heavy duty like yours but it has been engineered by the Camel Trophy guards guys.

And a pic of my truck with my custom Mantec Snorkel and L322 Safety Device Roof Rack.

Cheers

Hey Turbo is the L322 rack a direct fit, or did it need modding? Which vehicle is that snorkel from, cause I've got the underbonnet/wing part figured, but was struggling with the external bit?

There's custom brackets in order to not modify the rack itself. That way i'm already prepared for the next rangie to come. As you may know P38 SD rack is a rare and expensive breed. I went to FrogIsland UK to get this L322 one. Snokel lower part and middle is 200TDI Defender Mantec. Other half of the tube is 300 TDI Mantec. A friend who had incomplete kits in dead stock gave me those for free
