Had my timing belt done at a garage, destroyed my turbo, had a rigid tow to a garage by the AA. Off the road and in the air for around six weeks, now I can't engage drive either in all auto mode or in manual mode I get reverse but not drive, can anyone help please.

If the car was towed, then transfer box neutral should have been selected. If this was not done, the auto box may have been destroyed as the oil pump would not have been running. If this has happened, you may have a case against the AA. No vehicle with an auto box can be towed with drive wheels on the ground.

Sorry, Mercedes Benz sorted the towing a auto box with its wheels on the ground, in the 80's. The ZF box in your Disco can not be towed like that unless the transfer box is in neutral.

Thank you everyone for your replies, the vehicle was in neutral being towed and the turbo was destroyed by a tool lodged in the turbo which they said was not one of theirs.
Thank you regards Peter.

Do you mean the auto box was in neutral or the transfer box? If it was the auto box, suspect the gearbox is shagged. If the lever is stiff it may not be selecting correctly.

if its stiff id say you need a bracket and spacer there a nylon bush that seize up I had one last week its was that seized it wouldn't go in to drive I had to reverse it onto the ramp cheers mike
