I totally agree Neil, it is not right, but it just serves to remind us that
China is not a true democracy despite all the up-beat press lately and
should also remind us how lucky we are to live in one.

Goodness don't go using phrases like true democracy I can think of two
english speaking 1st world countries where one man decides foreign policy
and he was elected twice on very shaky ground

elected!

The power of trade - if we all didn't really need China for it's cheaply
made goods and the purchase of our raw materials we could tell them where to
go with their appalling human rights records. As it is, we don't condemn
them, we don't criticise them in any serious way, and we do enormous amounts
of trade with them.

A sad reflection on the realities of globalisation.
