Hi all,

Because injector problems sometimes show up I thought it might be a good idea to let you know I've read on a Belgian forum (general car forum, not FL related) that it is possible to have your injectors cleaned with an ultrasonic bath. Afterwards it's supposed they're as new, only new O rings to be mounted. They mentioned something of 10 to 15 Euro for a cleaned and "ready to be mounted again" injector against a price of +/- 200 Euro for a new one? There was also a picture of treated injectors against the old ones, will try to find it and add it on this thread.
Left picture shows old injectors, the right one the cleaned ones.

I did once have petrol injectors ultrasonically cleaned. They looked like the ones in the before picture. At the end of cleaning they were much better and the car did run better.
One thing to remember is that cleaning wont necessarily fix all injector problems. If they are too far gone ultrasonics cant help, but for ones that have covered a fair few miles cleaning will extend their life and should help a bit on emissions and maybe a bit on fuel consumption. This is due to petrol burning better as an atomised mixture rather than a puddle of fuel with the air above it.

The only other thing to remember is that you may break something when you remove the injectors as they will probably never have been removed since the car was built.
